ʻOhana Aviation exists to make advanced flight training more affordable, more effective, and more personal than traditional flight schools. We give our students more flight time in the airplane, more one-on-one dual instruction with experienced CFIs, and a lower total cost to rating completion. Our program includes multi engine training and ample opportunities for time building, allowing pilots to fly high in their skills and confidence. We provide a safe, reliable, well-maintained aircraft for training while giving back to the aviation community through charitable flight operations. Guided by integrity, safety, and the Hawaiian value of ‘ohana — family — we create a supportive environment where every pilot can grow, train, and thrive. We price training to be below the prevailing Central Florida market for comparable aircraft and instructor experience, while keeping maintenance, safety, and instructor quality as non-negotiables.
Many schools publish aircraft and instructor pricing separately. Based on publicly available postings, examples include:
Our commitment: our dual-instruction pricing is designed to come in below the local average for comparable training, with final pricing confirmed at booking/dispatch and payment.
*Competitor rates shown are publicly posted examples from third-party websites and may not reflect current pricing, availability, surcharges, discounts, minimums, membership fees, instructor experience levels, aircraft equipment, or airport fees. Verify directly with each provider. Rates and program terms at ʻOhana Aviation are subject to change; final pricing is confirmed at time of booking/dispatch and payment.
Our flight instructors are experienced professionals who are dedicated to helping students achieve their goals. They provide individualized instruction and support to ensure students have the best possible learning experience.
Most students complete the Private Pilot Certificate in approximately 55–70 flight hours. Totals shown are estimates and exclude fixed third-party costs (FAA knowledge test, medical, supplies, and DPE/checkride fees), which vary by location and are generally similar across schools.
Please reach us at ohana-aviation@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Every student progresses at their own pace. Readiness for the checkride is proficiency-based, not hour-based, and is primarily influenced by the student’s training consistency, lesson preparation, and commitment to ground study. Students who train regularly and arrive prepared often reach proficiency more efficiently, while extended gaps between lessons may increase total training time.
No. While the FAA sets a minimum flight hour requirement (40), there is no guaranteed number of hours to complete a Private Pilot License. Nationally, most students complete training in approximately 55–70 flight hours, depending on individual proficiency, study habits, scheduling consistency, and weather.
Students have significant control over their training timeline. Flying consistently, preparing for each lesson, staying current with ground study, and minimizing long gaps between flights all help improve learning efficiency. Our instructors focus on structured, proficiency-based training to help students make the most of each lesson.
At this time, we do not offer in-house financing or financial assistance programs. ʻOhana Aviation is a small, single-aircraft operation focused on high-quality, individualized flight training rather than high-volume instruction. This structure allows us to maintain transparent pricing, consistent aircraft availability, and a strong focus on safety and instructional quality.
Students are welcome to use personal financing options or third-party lenders of their choice, and we are happy to provide estimated training costs to assist with personal planning.
